Thank you for writing this Karen (and Shubnum!)... such perfect timing as this is the week in which I sit down (again) to begin work (again) on the novel that's been growing with me since, I really don't know when. Looking forward to getting hold of Shubnum's book, and to hearing her speak in a few weeks time at the Midlands Literary Festival (which is being held on my neighbour's property).
I'm so happy about the serendipitous timing - both of this interview and of the festival! And excited to hear that you're working on a novel too. I've had mine brewing for at least 4 years and am about 10k words in - where it is stubbornly remaining! I liked Shubnum's idea of doing a writing residency - if I didn't have a full-time job I'd explore that. But then again, I also know that it's not about those grand gestures where you tuck yourself away for weeks at a time - we don't always have that luxury. It's mostly about the practice - every day a little bit more and a little bit more and a little bit more... (she tells herself).
